Drupal Camp Pune

I am glad I made it to the Pune Drupal Camp. And also glad to blog about the affair on my revamped online space(:D), which ofcourse is powered by drupal. Travelling down to pune and being a part of the drupal camp was a great experience in many different ways. It was the second "official" drupal camp in India and the frist that I attended. Everything from start to end of the day had my excitement levels at the peak.

I really had no prior expectations from the event. I was just looking forward to having fun, meeting old friends, making some new and sharing the tiny bit of drupal know-how that I have. I got what I was looking for big time. I pushed gaurav hard to start things off with the drupal song he had put together and promised to sing with him. When I did, I totally freaked out. The audience better liked that "performance" or are free to lie about it. (it was the first time I was singing in front of a crowd.. and in all probability the last).

The day was packed with drupal sessions in advanced and beginner tracks. I had to give the first talk in the advanced session, which I rushed through and could not finish even after encroaching 10 minutes. At moments it felt like I was firing the audience with a machine gun :P So I have uploaded the presentation and the module that I used for the session here.

There was a lot to take away from the sessions on patterns module, drupal on amazon EC2, migrating drupal sites using migraine and the ilovebolly case study. I am desparately waiting for the drupal camp videos to be uploaded as I missed the talk Prasad gave on localization of drupal in Indian languages and to relive the "about" 30 second intros that we gave to each other towards the end of the day.

People gathered for the event ranged from students, drupal developers, magazine editors, old time entrepreneurs, head hunters, activists et al. All organizers of the event deserve hellova appreciation for realizing this event. A thumbs up to - Amit kumar singh, Amit kapre, Abhishek nagar, Amit Vyas, Dipen, Mukesh, Gaurav, Jhonathan, Vaish, SICSR volunteers and many others.

I hope drupal community in India grows stronger and future drupal meets rock even harder. (Though it would be tough to beat the parathas that some of us had at the end of the day in Pune ;))
